Tonight, our neighbor's Maggie and Lee invited the whole neighborhood (about 25 households by now) for a pizza wagon that they got at a silent auction. It was a gorgeous evening with unseasonably warm temperatures and blue skies with the sun setting over the prairie. The pizza guys were kept busy feeding the hungry crowd - they actually put together the pizzas right there and then bake them in ovens along the side of the truck. As the pizza eating winded down, they started baking chocolate chip cookies - and who could resist those warm, gooey things. All the kids were having a ball, running around, playing and eating. We really are so fortunate to have ended up in a neighborhood with such an enjoyable group of people to socialize with. Kai spent the evening attached to Phil (unfortunately the two of them look drunk and out of it in the only picture that was taken of them) - he is now able to face out in the Baby Bjorn and seems to like being able to take in the action. He also likes to interact with others and was particularly responsive to neighbor Mike who got him to smile, laugh and coo for quite a while. Noah loves any social event and was euphoric - especially after he discovered the chocolate chip cookies and helped himself to a handful before anyone noticed! As we left, Noah said, "Thanks for sharing Maggie and Leek...night, night."
