One of the benefits of being the parent of a transportation-crazed child is that my own vocabulary in that area has grown by leaps and bounds. Who knows, maybe that may come in handy for me some day. Whenever we come home from the library, we have a fresh supply of books about trucks, cars, buses, airplanes, etc. and I usually learn a lot of new things. A local charter school is building a new facility across from our development and there has been a multitude of construction vehicles hard at work. In my previous life, I would just have called them all that - construction vehicles. But now, I am proud to say that I can name quite a few of them! Yesterday, when we were leaving for music class, Noah and I noticed that a telescoping forklift had just arrived. We were introduced to this type of forklift in our latest batch of library books so even I was somewhat excited to see one right there in real life. A little while later in class when we were singing a song called, "Driving my Truck", the teacher asked the kids to name some vehicles for us to use in the song. A few kids yelled out "car", "bus", "truck" - then came Noah with "telescoping forklift". The word 'telescoping' did come out slightly jumbled so I had to help translate. The parents got a kick out of that one!
