Christmas '08

Christmas was a cozy and low-key event for us this year, which was really quite pleasant. Most of us were either getting over or nursing colds so it was nice to have very little scheduled. On Christmas Eve, we had cupcakes and sang "Happy Birthday Jesus" - we just had to after Noah's talk earlier this month about chocolate cupcakes and Ms. Jesus' birthday! The beginning of a tradition? I guess time will tell....

On Christmas morning, it was time to see what Santa had brought. Noah did not quite know what to make of the gifts under the tree. At first, he didn't want to touch anything and seemed hesitant to even approach the tree. However, once we had prodded him to check out a couple of things, he seemed more at ease. Noah's love for books, matchbox cars and puzzles was definitely nurtured by Santa, grandparents and parents! Kai was more interested in sampling the wrapping paper than anything else.

Some friends - the husband is one of Phil's colleagues - had invited us to join them for their Christmas meal. We had a delicious dinner and a lovely time together. Kai slept much of the afternoon (still working on his cold and teeth) while Noah ate, played and socialized. Somehow, the camera was forgotten once we started eating, and this is the only picture that ended up being taken:

Chris' mother, Linda, worked her magic and had rocked
Kai to sleep within 10 minutes of us arriving!

Back home in the late afternoon, I took Noah out for a quick romp in the snow before my toes froze into icy little blocks and I had to drag him kicking and screaming back in again (somehow, the cold just never seems to bother kids!). By 7 pm, both boys were snug in their beds and Phil and I were able to enjoy a quiet evening by the fire. Merry Christmas!
