This morning I bundled Noah up and sent him next door to invite Ollie over to play. (Ollie is exactly 2 days older than Noah.) Noah was quite perplexed by this sudden freedom to take off on his own. He took a step, turned around, looked at me and said, "Bye bye Mamma" and repeated this for each step as he proceeded down from our front door. I did have my shoes on to chase him if he happened to just take off once he hit the path at the end of our walkway (since our house faces a green space, we are well set back from the road, so there was absolutely no danger of cars). Noah quickly headed next door to Ollie's and stood in front of the door. Then I had to coax him, yelling from our front porch for several minutes, to actually knock on the door. Finally he banged on the door, and was let in. A few minutes later Ollie and Noah were racing back the path to our house - it was very cute! The two of them played very nicely together for the next hour and a half. How nice to have a same-aged peer next door - especially with this long indoor season stretching ahead of us.
