Yesterday, I finally had a very belated birthday party for Noah. It was busy, messy and fun! The day before, we were running errands to pick up some things for the party and Noah said in the car, "Mamma, I'm SOOO excited. I have a big smile on my face when I think about my party!" We invited 5 friends (Ava, Gavin, Katherine, Jonathon, and Conner) to come, which seemed like a manageable number at this age. Noah had very set ideas about his party - gleaned, I'm sure, from various birthday books that we have read. He requested specific party games (a treasure hunt and "pin the boiler on the train" - something he made up after reading about pin the tail on the donkey), a car-themed cake and a "fiskdamm" (swedish for fishing pond and is traditional at a swedish party). After everyone arrived, we attempted our games (always comical to try things like that with a group of 3-year-olds) and had our treasure hunt (the kids looked for miniature bath toys that I had hidden out in the yard). Then we went inside where the kids made their own pita pizzas which they had for lunch, followed by cake. We finished off the festivities with the "fiskdamm". Noah spent the afternoon working on all the puzzles he got for presents. All in all, a successful day!
