We've Been Busy.....

Boy, I knew that I hadn't posted a blog in way too long, but when I realized it's been almost a month I was shocked! So I guess I have some catching up to do....

Noah is doing great at pre-school and loves going. The first day, he had a hard time sitting still during group time. His good friend Katherine went home and told her mom, "I'm worried about Noah. They wanted him to sit in the circle, but he didn't want to sit in the circle and I'm worried about him." So sweet! His teachers report that he's definitely an active and highly curious little boy, but added that it's perfectly normal for it to take a while for them to get into the more structured routines such as sitting at circle time and getting in line to go outside. Noah is bringing home art projects, singing new songs and making new friends - it's amazing how fast they grow up and become independent little beings. Noah is such a happy little person who just loves life and ALWAYS has an answer for everything - a true joy to be around. Trains, books and puzzles continue to be highly popular play items as well as building houses and cities with various blocks and trinkets.

Kai is our sweet, sweet, easy-going snuggle bug boy! We are so proud of the terrific progress he has made with his physical therapy. When a little kid has to work extra hard to reach those milestones, it really puts a big smile on your face when they reach them. In the beginning of August, he started crawling and has just taken off. Within weeks, he was beginning to pull himself up onto all kinds of things and getting himself into all sorts of trouble with scrapes and bruises to show for it. He quickly figured out how to navigate going up stairs, but still thinks he can just go head first down, though he does now hesitate a few seconds before launching off. Kai is cruising pretty well in one direction, but still struggles in the other (we continue to also see a chiropractor who things some tight spots on one side of his lower back may be at least partially to blame for this). Kai also sees a speech therapist once a week to work on some expressive and receptive language skills. Although he still isn't saying a whole lot of real words, his therapist is very impressed with how attentive he is and how focused he is on her - she feels perfectly confident that everything is going to click and fall into place which is always reassuring to hear. Kai and I have also started a class together at the Early Childhood Family Education center (Noah and I did classes there together for the past 2 years). I hadn't planned on it since our schedule is quite busy, but I really felt like Kai and I needed something to do together that was just 100% fun and play. While we are in class, Noah goes to the sibling care room and plays his heart out for 1.5 hours which suits him just fine.

Well, that's an update in a nutshell!
