After a few days spent at home due to stomach virus (Noah), croupy cold (Kai) and horribly cold temps, it was high time to get out of the house today. We started off with a couple of errands, then headed in to St Paul for some lunch. Today, we planned to visit a train roundhouse which is included in the Minnesota Museum of Transportation, so Noah was actually too excited to eat much (very rare for him not to eat!). Most of his lunch ended up in a box to come home with us. Then off we were to the roundhouse. The library system here has a great museum program where you can pick up free passes to a list of Twin Cities attractions - amongst them the Transportation Museum. We really didn't know what to expect, but the roundhouse was a very nice old building with several quite old trains in it that you could wander through - locomotive, dining car, sleeper car, caboose, amongst others. There were also several electric train circuits set up that the kids could look at. By far the biggest attraction for our boys were the wooden train tables that were set up for kids to play with ... in fact, we probably ended up spending 90% of our time there! And of course, there was a gift shop with plenty of Thomas the Train items for Noah to add to his constantly growing wish list.

Looks like we have another train lover in the family!
