Physical Therapy

Just before we left on our trip South, Kai had his final evaluation to see if he would qualify for physical therapy services through the school system. Two very nice ladies - a physical therapist and a teacher - came to the house and spent about an hour working with Kai to measure his abilities in all kinds of areas. They determined that his fine motor, cognitive and social/emotional skills were all appropriate. However his gross motor skills are delayed enough that he qualifies for the services. They were encouraged by what they saw and did not see any signs that we need to be concerned that there are any medical reasons for the gross motor delays. For whatever reason, Kai simply needs a bit of a push to get over this hump and catch him up to where he should be. Noah was present during the evaluation and the ladies quickly noted that his activity level and outgoing personality may be providing Kai with so much entertainment that he's not motivated to move as much! The day after we returned home we had a meeting to set up some goals to work towards. So starting next week, the physical therapist will come to our house once a week for about an hour to work with Kai and teach me things to do with him that will encourage more movement.
